Mid-Summer Report

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Hello friends! We haven’t been Meatloafing much—or meating, for that matter (Except for burgers. We always need burgers.). It’s hot out, so that means we’ve been jumping off cliffs, riding the Cyclone with best friends, riding bikes, homebrewing kombucha (the ancient Asian wonder drink [note: future Meatloafing post about this]), and sprouting. Hippies. Summer! We love it.

Summer Fitness: Guide to Arms

Today we will focus on the core and upper body. Pushups and situps are classic. When done properly, you will strengthen your abs, arms, shoulders, and back—all while watching tv or hanging out in the park! Here is a video demo of Meatloafing-style pushups. Please note that in this video, my form is perfect, but my execution could use some work.

Hello Summer!

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Last weekend marked the unofficial (but basically official—get real) start of summer. We enjoyed a BBQ, a cutthroat game of Apples to Apples, a leisurely bike ride to Rikers Island, and beautiful weather. Meatloafing offers 7 tips for a sensational summer:

  • Work on this season’s “it” muscle (according to Maggie, it’s the semitendinosus, the semimembranosus, and the biceps femoris, all of which make up what’s commonly known as the hamstring)
  • Bike often and wear a helmet
  • Don’t wear leggings as pants
  • Make sun tea in your office windowsill if you cannot actually go outdoors
  • Mollie’s Famous Lemonade
  • Constantly over-meat
  • Enjoy this timeless, yet often overlooked vegetable: Radishes!

[A note about our new look: It's actually our old look, and we're working on getting our new look back. Upgrading WordPress without backing up your old files is not recommended. Thank you.]

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Plaid’s always been a fabric-pattern mainstay, so to no one’s disbelief, it’s still popular this year. (So are stripes, pale skin, and black)

Don’t Try to Sell Me Your One-Size-Fits-All Tights

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Urban Outfittters: “One-size” tights are a terrible idea and you certainly shouldn’t be selling them for $20. I have some $4 ones from Old Navy and they sag and it’s not only just weird, it’s uncomfortable and makes me feel like I’m wearing a diaper. So I’m not going to buy your more expensive tights even if they’re really cute. Here’s what our good friend Elizabeth, a fashion design student at FIT, has to say about the subject:

Meatloafing: honestly, would you buy that shit?
Elizabeth: one size fits all?
Elizabeth: depends. sometimes, yes.
