This weekend was a little rough. We rode the Cyclone again and hurt ourselves. Dinner with our good friends at DiFara did little to alleviate the pain.

Jesse L. Martin’s final episode of Law & Order airs in two weeks. The episode, titled “Burn Card,” isn’t just a bittersweet end to a legendary era of Dick Wolf’s nearly two-decade-old series—it’s also Meatloafing favorite Jeremy Sisto’s time to shine (i.e., excite us the way he did so often on Six Feet Under). Meatloafing took a little mental health break to take care of some much needed home improvement. When I recently moved, one large wall of my apartment was painted in a lightly textured caramely, rusty brown. I didn’t mind it at first (it wasn’t totally ME, but it felt sort of warm and comforting), but after about a month I began to feel a bit too Shining, and realized that my life in Starbucks could simply not continue. My neighbor Meldon completed the hardest part—sanding away all the gritty and depressing textured shit. Last night my good friend Mathew and I finally finished up the job. I took my mom to the Yankees home opener at the Stadium on April 2nd. A-Rod made an error the first time he touched the ball, but the Yanks managed to beat the lackluster Devil Rays.

Fast forward to Game 4 of the ALDS, my beloved Yanks down 2-1 against the Indians and needing a win to send the series back to Cleveland for a decisive Game 5. This game I needed to see on TV. I considered buying one, but I booked a post-season vacation instead. I found myself a guest in the home of “friends.” I was to watch the Yankee fate in high definition in a room full of Yankee haters.  (more…)
