Sorry We’ve Been “Idol”

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

We’ve been busy: spring cleaning, Netflix, and living at sea for awhile. Anyhoo. Tonight is part one of the 2-night season finale of American Idol, in case you’ve been living under a rock.

Last week, prior to the Top 3 show, we tried to share our predictions, but Meatloafing had apparently been hacked and we were unable to post. Nonetheless, we were right:

Anne: i thought archuleta would win all along, but i honestly think cook has a chance
Anne: syesha better get dumped tonight
Meatloafing: i think america wants the davids to have a face-off
Anne: syesha has clearly not been that popular all along—she’s almost always been in the bottom 2
Meatloafing: she’ll get shat on tonight i think

Tonight, the obvious choice is Archuleta. But here at Meatloafing, we’re partial to Cook. (more…)

Lindsay Lohan’s Oeuvre On View at BAM this Saturday!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

This Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., the Brooklyn Academy of Music is hosting an event called TAKEOVERBAM. The festivities will include Music, Movies, and Art plus $3 Magic Hat.

lohanMost importantly, one of the theaters will be dedicated to a Lindsay Lohan Mid-Career Retrospective tracing her development from 1998’s The Parent Trap to 2007’s I Know Who Killed Me. Unfortunately, Herbie Fully Loaded and A Prairie Home Companion will not be screened but the inclusion of Mark Waters’ oft overlooked classic Freaky Friday ought to be enough to satisfy even the most rabid of Lohan aficionados.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more on the event visit www.takeoverbam.org.

Child Abuse Hates Puppies More than Children*

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Brooklyn band Child Abuse put on a great show tonight at Cake Shop. Whether or not they actually hate children has yet to be confirmed, but you can find out in our forthcoming interview. The cuddly trio begins a U.S. & Canada tour (in a biodiesel van!) next week, so for now: a brief photo recap of tonight’s performance.

Child Abuse
Luke usually makes scary/weird faces and/or consumes the mic.

Happy Radiohead Day!

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Editor’s note: So the new Radiohead record, In Rainbows, was released today as a download only. I couldn’t access the site (here’s another site that discusses it in great depth), but these two dorks persevered and succeeded, and below is their alarmingly joyous analysis of the album. If you are not a Radiohead fan, you might be a little weirded out (or, frankly, bored). But if you are a fan, pretend you’re in there chatting and giggling right along with them.

Dork 1 (7:57:19 AM): just downloaded it twice
Dork 1 (7:57:28 AM): greenplastic, “Our verdict: Quite possibly the best Radiohead album ever made.”
Dork 2 (7:57:40 AM): of course they’ll say that today
Dork 1 (7:58:04 AM): i’m scared
Dork 2 (8:02:50 AM): I FUCKING GOT IT
Dork 1 (8:02:55 AM): wait till you turn it on
Dork 2 (8:03:24 AM): I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR NUDE

Let Me Give You a BJ

Monday, October 8th, 2007

We’ve heard about the beards, the found-object instruments, and the fancy new record label. But Parts & Labor are also just dorks who enjoy drunken video chatting at 3 a.m. In the midst of a European tour, BJ Warshaw, the sometimes-spokesperson for P&L—“Brooklyn’s Sweethearts”—sat down (kind of) for an impromptu IM-terview.

9:36 PM
BJ: I’m playing Wii in England. Dan says hi.
Mollie: Hello. tell him I saw the pic of him on the nudist vacation
BJ: He says, “augh!”
BJ: We’re gonna kill zombies now.
Mollie: I want to interview you for meatloafing
BJ: Resident Evil IV is totally calling.
BJ: This is the interview. Now. Start. Go. Ask.
