Went to Chichen Itza today. Early bus from Merida, then walked around CI for a few hours. Many tourists. Took late-afternoon bus to Tulum. CI was my first ruins site and it’s quite impressive, though I am glad I wasn’t alive then—too many beheadings. Also saw our first cenote but it was roped off. [...]

Dear Meatloafing readers,
Although this website focuses mostly on food, self-empowerment, and breaking Midtown news, sometimes we like to hit the open road and explore new places. Here are journal excerpts from my recent trip to the Yucatan down through Guatemala City. —ML
Saturday, August 2: Cancun & Mérida
Yesterday we flew into Cancun (”Nueva Orlando”) and [...]

All-Star Earth-Killers. The parade is pretty effing stupid—and while it’s supposedly a “green” parade, it’s just a continuous line of oversized pickup trucks (the ones with back seats) with one or maybe two All-Stars sitting there in the back. Couldn’t they just make a few floats and lump them all together? Who really gives a [...]

Hello friends! We haven’t been Meatloafing much—or meating, for that matter (Except for burgers. We always need burgers.). It’s hot out, so that means we’ve been jumping off cliffs, riding the Cyclone with best friends, riding bikes, homebrewing kombucha (the ancient Asian wonder drink [note: future Meatloafing post about this]), and sprouting. Hippies. Summer! We [...]

Last weekend marked the unofficial (but basically official—get real) start of summer. We enjoyed a BBQ, a cutthroat game of Apples to Apples, a leisurely bike ride to Rikers Island, and beautiful weather. Meatloafing offers 7 tips for a sensational summer:

Work on this season’s “it” muscle (according to Maggie, it’s the semitendinosus, the semimembranosus, and [...]
